H. Evaluation: Skills Development

From doing my preliminary task, I think I have learnt a lot more from just using Photoshop, I have discovered ways in which to produce better pieces of work but at the same time take better pictures. I think that it was a good idea to research into existing magazines beforehand so that I knew where I was coming from and the criteria I needed to have, also the approach that I needed to take when writing an article to produce a much better piece of work. With the audience research that I did before creating my pieces of work, I found out what sort of magazine that they would like to see on shop shelves and the type of articles and reviews they would want in a magazine. From getting this research I created my magazine based on the knowledge I gained from my audience research.
With creating my media products I focused onto how I worded the text on different written pieces, also to how I set everything out on the page with what would look good in what place.

G. Evaluation: Technologies

With photography I learnt that using different angles to take a picture changed the connotation with the image, the shot distance I used for my front page was a close up, I did this too show that as a magazine we can get up close and personal with people. With my other shot distances I used medium close ups. I didn’t used any props throughout taking the pictures, I did this as I think it made my images look smart. I managed my time well with creating my front page, contents page and double page spread, with taking my pictures and putting my work all together. With Photoshop I developed my skill further like with my contents page and having a Polaroid effect for inserted pictures, which really made my contents page stand out and look good. I think the best product I have created is my double page spread as it looks smart, neat and professional, I like the way that on this final product that the main image is in black and white yet the rest of the page has random pieces of colour. The best part of my contents page has to be my Polaroid image effect on the photographs I am really happy with how this turned out. My favourite part on my front page is the picture, I think I got the right amount of light, colour and shot distance on this photograph.

F. Evaluation: Addressing my audience

I really tried to grab the readers attention by making my magazine bright, colourful and eye catching so that people notice it and want to read my music magazine. Throughout my work I have used direct address with 2nd person pronouns so that people see that I am speaking directly to them for example on my front page I have said “Festival guide - Where You need to be this summer!” Speaking directly to the reader. I have spoken in a friendly language that relates to my readers. The images I have used were of younger people that can generalise to lots of different readers.

E. Evaluation: Target audience

The demographics of my magazine are British older teenagers between the ages of 16 and 24 the social stature that my magazine is aimed at would be C1, C2, D, towards more of an urban area. The psychographics of my magazine are individuals and succeeders. I have aimed to produce a dance magazine that is aimed at people who enjoy and listen and dance to dance music, when both at home and when out, my magazine will include festival guides and chart lists. I have aimed for rather more of a female approach than a male, though males can still read it. The people to read my magazine would be the type of persons to be going out to clubs and gigs a lot of the time and listening to the newest music and wanting to know about the latest gossip and the next top charters.
